Faith Claringbull joins Sanctus as Volunteer Coordinator

We are really pleased to announce that, following on from our successful grant application to the Staffordshire Community Foundation, Faith Claringbull will be joining us on 11 March to take up the role of Volunteer Coordinator at Sanctus St Marks.

Faith brings many years of experience in managing volunteers, and we are really excited that she is joining the Sanctus team. We are confident that she will help us develop and improve the volunteering experience at Sanctus, which will be beneficial for everyone we seek to serve.

Faith will be responsible for implementing our volunteer engagement strategy, developing relationships with existing volunteers, recruiting new volunteers, and working to improve and support their experience.

She has lived in Stoke-on-Trent since 2017, and has been volunteering with Sanctus since moving to the City.  Prior to this, Faith worked in the Diocese of Birmingham as Director of Ordinations (DDO) and volunteered as a befriender with Restore which supports refugees in Birmingham.  She also volunteers with Stoke’s community bakery Bread in Common.

Asked why she volunteers, Faith responded:

'We each come to volunteering with Sanctus for different reasons and it's lovely to hear about some of these. Last September I was reminded why I feel so passionately about welcoming the people who have migrated here. Keith and I were in Liverpool and we stood for a few special moments on the quayside where I arrived in this country. I had come by boat from Ghana. I was born there, in Mampong-Ashanti, and because my parents were white and British I was waved cheerily in. What an appallingly different ‘welcome’ the people we encounter here in Stoke have received ... and we can make such a big difference to their lives.'
