Sanctus volunteer founds CIC to provide advocacy for survivors of human trafficking

In April 2017, Carmen Clarke took the bold step to set up a new charitable enterprise called Khai Tzedek to provide advocacy for victims and survivors of human trafficking in Staffordshire and Cheshire.

Carmen’s vision is to see justice and restoration in people’s lives through the work of the advocacy team which works with other professionals, agencies and partners.  She explains:

“My passion for people is grounded in my Christian faith and the firm belief that we are all created in God’s image and that He deeply values each one of us. Having volunteered for some time with asylum seekers and refugees, the last 2 years have seen the development of the advocacy role with victims/survivors of human trafficking.”

Khai Tzedek is Hebrew for “living justice” The team is committed to all people and support to clients is not dependent on background, ability, faith (or none), race, gender, sexuality or any other status.

The advocacy team consists of Carmen, alongside two advocates who support on a pro-bono basis. All advocates have knowledge and experience in particular areas. Current work is with women and men, with the aim of supporting unaccompanied asylum seeker children (UASC) in the future.

Khai Tzedek also offers advocacy to Foreign Nationals in prison or detention, who may have suffered human trafficking.
